Stow Horse Fair
The gypsy horse fair attracts hundreds of sightseers to Stow on the Wold twice a year. Gypsies gather from all corners of England for a meet and greet and hundreds of horses are paraded and sold, all in one day. I was lucky enough to attend this as a photographer and managed to become trusted in the community. I spent hours there talking to travellers, discussing their lives, being shown how to ride horses, being invited to people's caravans for a cup of tea and so on. This community has always been of interest to me, as I find their way of life almost perfect, and this is understandably an unpopular opinion. As a person who loves to travel the world without consequences or commitments (i.e a mortgage, rent, car etc) I admire this communities passion for living on the road without anything holding them back. Despite the stigma surrounding their community, they are some of the happiest, friendliest and most welcoming bunch of people I have ever met.
